Description
Companion Fungicide is a combination of two active ingredients, mancozeb and carbendazim, that work together to provide broad-spectrum control of diseases in crops. It has both protective and curative action and is effective against a range of diseases on a number of crops, including paddy, chili, groundnut, grapes, mango, potato, and tea. Mancozeb, the first active ingredient, acts as a contact fungicide and remains on the plant surface, while carbendazim is systemic and is absorbed through the roots and green tissues. Together, they provide multisite activity that helps to prevent the development of resistance. Companion Fungicide also provides manganese and zinc nutrition to the crops, which helps to keep the plants green and healthy and can stimulate growth, enhance flowering, and improve crop yield. It is safe for use up to harvest and is environmentally friendly, as it rapidly degrades in soil and is safe for beneficial insects. The recommended dosage is 300 gm per acre for paddy, chili, and groundnut, and 2.5 gm per kg of seed for seed treatment of groundnut. For grapes and mango, it should be applied at a rate of 1.5 gm per liter of water, and for potato, it should be applied at a rate of 700 gm per acre.
MODE OF ACTION – It is a mixture of Mancozeb and Carbendazim. Active ingredient Mancozeb remains on the plant surface and acts by contact action (Preventive). It is fungitoxic when exposed to air, converted in to an isothiocyanate, which inactivates the sulphahydral groups of enzymes in fungi, thus, cause disturbance in fungal enzyme functioning. Other active ingredient Carbendazim, which is having systemic activity (absorbed through roots and green tissues), acts as protective and curative.
